“I love Detroit. I’m an architectural photographer and showing Detroit off has become my passion.”
LASZLO REGOS
For the past 30 years, photographer Laszlo Regos has made the Metro Detroit area home after seeking political and artistic freedom from his native country of Hungary. In 1985 he opened his own studio specializing in architectural and interior photography and continues to thrive today. His work took him over three continents and virtually every major American city.
Throughout his career, Laszlo’s work has been featured in exhibitions from Budapest to Prague and from Detroit to New York City. He has contributed to leading international architectural books and magazines. His first book, The Opera House, was recently published as a pictorial tribute to the Budapest Opera House where he sang in the Boys’ Choir as a child.
Laszlo’s latest project, Detroit City Beautiful 2009, is the second in a series of calendars honoring his adopted home’s landmarks; a treasure trove of architectural gems in his own backyard. He explains, “Working here, raising a family, savoring the architecture, sharing my photos - this is what I can do to give back to a city that has offered me a life of freedom here.”
